Mitch is beginning to rebuild his relationship with Aidan, he breaks up with his new fiancee and moves into his parents' guesthouse with his son. Lauren and Josh continue to build on her house, and on their relationship. Lauren makes a surprise visit in Woodside to talk to Aidan who's been avoiding her, but she ends up fainting. When she's admitted to the ER, Lauren and Aidan learns that Lauren is pregnant.
SCENES -
1. MONTAGE - Aidan on his surfboard at the line-up outside Pleasure Point / Mitch in his car looking for Aidan / Josh and Lauren arriving to Diego's 50th birthday party / Lauren talking to Diego's wife.
2. Aidan coming up from the water, meeting his father waiting for him on the beach.
3. Lauren and Josh talking to Diego at his birthday party. Diego suggesting a business partnership to Lauren.
4. Aidan having an emotional and deep conversation with his father Mitch at a diner in Santa Cruz.
5. Lauren and Josh dancing (salsa) at Diego's party. Lauren telling Josh she loves him.
6. MONTAGE - Aidan and Mitch in Santa Cruz / Lauren and Josh in bed / Aidan arriving at his grandparents' home in Woodside.
7. Mitch coming back to Ashley's apartment and him breaking up with her.
8. Lauren arriving in Woodside to see Aidan unannounced. Lauren talking to Katarina and later, Lauren meeting Aidan and then fainting.
9. Lauren in a hospital bed at Stanford ER. Lauren seen by Aidan's uncle Peter (MD) who gives Lauren the news that she's pregnant. Peter talking to Aidan.
10. Josh at a tattoo parlor in Long Beach waiting for Javier, then deciding to get a new tattoo for himself.
11. MONTAGE - Mitch viewing an apartment for himself (and Aidan) in downtown SF / Lauren coming out from Stanford ER with Aidan waiting for her in her car / Josh and Javier working on demolition in the "Flip" property.
12. Aidan driving Lauren from Stanford to LA. Lauren finding out about Antonia.
13. Josh and Javier working at Lauren's "Flip" property, getting a surprise visit by the former foreman, Luiz.
14. Josh coming home to Lauren, telling her about Luiz, and his thoughts about his employment situation, and showing Lauren his new tattoo (with her name).
15. Josh getting a surprise visit from Aidan at the "Flip" property, having a deep conversation with him, and later learning about Lauren's pregnancy.

EXT. MONTAGE SCENE - PLEASURE POINT, SANTA CRUZ / MT WASHINGTON, LA - DAY / AFTERNOON
Soundtrack Music:
Aidan is sitting on his surfboard out at the line-up outside Pleasure Point. He can see the wave approaching and he knows it’s his turn. He lies down and starts paddeling like mad. He’s in perfect sync when the wave goes off, a perfect A frame, and he’s carving it inside the barrel until he finishes off with a kick out.

Mitch is in his Range Rover driving slowly past the parking lot parallel with the beach at Pleasure Point. He’s looking at all the cars that are parked there. Suddenly he hits the brakes. He’s found Aidan’s car. He’s there. Mitch parks his car at the first available spot. He gets out of his car and walks straight out on the beach. He’s gazing out at the ocean and then he bends down to remove his Italian leather dress shoes and socks. He rolls up his suit pants and continues to walk down, towards the shore.

Josh and Lauren are walking up to a house in an LA residential neighborhood. There are a lot of cars lining the street, and there are a lot of people mingling outside the house. Lauren is dressed in a short, tight fitting red bardot dress and high heels. Josh is wearing a suit but has the jacket on his arm and the sleeves of his white shirt rolled up. The temperature is 98 degrees. Josh is holding Lauren around her waist and Lauren is carrying a magnum bottle of Bollinger with a red ribbon tied to it in her arms. As they enter the back garden of the house they are met by a crowd of more than 100 people, both adults and children. There’s a big tent at the back end, and picnic chairs everywhere. The small pool is overfilled with both kids and adults and Latino music is blaring out from a stack of speakers. Clouds of smoke rise up from a row of big barbeques at one end, and in the middle of it all, there is a huge donkey piñata hanging above the garden by ropes fastened to the house. The piñata is lettered with ”Diego 50”.
Lauren and Josh just stop and take it all in, looking at each other like; *wow, this is intense* when a woman in her 40’s comes up to them and puts a hand on Lauren’s shoulder.
ANGELA MONTOYA
Hi! Lauren?
Lauren removes her sunglasses and lights up with recognition.
LAUREN
Angela!? Hi! Haven’t seen you in...10 years..?
ANGELA MONTOYA
Maybe 12? Welcome!
Lauren and Angela embrace and kiss on the right cheek, and then Angela turns to Josh;
ANGELA MONTOYA (CONT'D)
And you must be Josh? Welcome!
(Josh shakes her hand and gives her a peck on the cheek)
ANGELA MONTOYA (CONT'D)
(turning back to Lauren)
And how’s your little boy? Ahhh, I
forgot his name...
LAUREN
Aidan! He’s fine thank you...all grown up now..and your...you were
pregnant when I last saw you!
ANGELA MONTOYA
Yes! that’s right! That was number
three! And then we went on to have
two more! That’s number five right
there!
Angela is pointing to an older woman standing close by with a year old baby in her arms.
LAUREN
What!? I didn’t even know Diego has
a little baby...girl?
(A safe guess as the baby is wearing a big bow ribbon on her head)
ANGELA MONTOYA
Ha ha! He tries to forget! She was
a big surprise, to say the least...who would’ve thought...at 45 years old!
(Pointing to herself, shaking her head)
LAUREN
Wow....Congratulations...she’s
adorable.
ANGELA MONTOYA
So! We have pitchers of Marguiritas
over there,
(Pointing towards the line of tables holding food and drinks)
And there are coolers with beer and
soft drinks and if you just line up
at that barbeque there -you see? -
you’ll get some amazing smoked beef
brisket tacos, chorizos...there are
vegetarian options...
LAUREN
Thank you so much! But where’s
Diego?
ANGELA MONTOYA
He’s sitting in the back of that tent. He’s far from sober.
(Looking at Josh, smiling)
Pero muy feliz!
Josh and Lauren turn to head towards the tent when Angela grabs Lauren by the arm. She leans in close to Lauren and says;
ANGELA MONTOYA
I saw his birth date on the payroll...
(Nodding towards Josh)
Well done!
(Laughing and giving Lauren a friendly slap on the arm)
Lauren gives up an embarrassed smile and takes Josh’s hand.

Scene E7:5
EXT. DIEGO MONTOYA’S HOUSE - GARDEN PARTY - EARLY EVENING
Soundtrack music: modern latino
Lauren is dancing with Javier on the small dance floor. Josh is standing by the side and he watches them, intensely.
He knew Lauren was a dancer, but it really surprises him to see how good she is. It looks so effortless, and her movements are so smooth and so fluid, one continuous flow of energy, from her feet, through her hips, all the way to her fingertips. Graceful yet forceful, at the same time. Raw femininity in motion.
Javier is really enjoying his dance partner, it’s like he’s just feeding her a sort of magnetic resistance, pushing, pulling, controlling, reeling in, letting go. Josh is completely mesmerized, and yes, it’s turning him on. He’s beginning to feel like he just wants to pull her away from Javier, lay her down on the ground and make love to her.
He’s startled by someone coming up really close to him from behind. It’s a girl, about the same age as him, who he has never seen before. She just smiles at him and takes his beer bottle away from him, puts it down on the ground, and then gently but firmly steers him on to the dance floor.
The girl positions herself right next to him and motions for him to follow her moves, the basic salsa steps. Josh vaguely remembers these steps and he falls into them, left foot forward, then back, pause, right foot back, center, pause. The girl smiles and nods, encouragingly.
Javier positions himself behind Lauren so that she is moving right in front of Josh. Javier’s hands are on her hips while she is locking eyes with Josh. The girl keeps reminding Josh of the sequence until Josh and Lauren are in sync with each other, then the girl takes his right hand and directs it towards Lauren’s waist, and Lauren takes his left hand, and they’re dancing. Javier and the girl are suddenly pairing up beside them.
Josh and Lauren are both beaming. They keep looking into each other’s eyes. Josh falls out of sync and almost steps on her foot. They both stop moving but remain in the dance position, not loosing eye contact. Josh can see her lips moving. He can see what she’s saying. The music is still very loud, but inside his head, it stops, and he can hear her perfectly;
LAUREN
I love you.
Josh feels like there are fireworks going off inside of him. He cups his hands around her face then he bends down and kisses her deeply. They both feel like the whole world is spinning around them, while everything inside of them is perfectly peaceful. They keep kissing, and kissing, until they’re interrupted by a massive cheering and shouting. The guests have just smashed the huge donkey piñata, and thousands of pieces of candy are falling to the ground.

EXT. WOODSIDE RESIDENTIAL AREA, STANFORD, CA - LATE AFTERNOON - MONDAY
Lauren is driving through the leafy, affluent Woodside area. She makes a hands-free call to Josh.
JOSH (O.C)
Hi babe, where are you?
LAUREN
I’m in Woodside now, almost there.
JOSH
You drove straight? No stopping?
LAUREN
No. No stops. What are you doing?
JOSH
We’ve started with the sliding
doors so I’ve gotta get back...it’s
heavy and tricky as hell...
LAUREN
I know...listen, I just wanted to
let you know I made it up here...
JOSH
I appreciate that babe. You make
sure to eat and drink and all that,
huh? And, good luck....
LAUREN
I will. And thanks.
JOSH
I love you babe.
LAUREN
I love you too. Bye.
Lauren ends the call. She has just stopped outside a tall gate. Through it she can spot the circular driveway and the Van Bureen residence, further up. Lauren checks herself in the vanity mirror, takes a swig from her water bottle and exits her car. She walks up to the gate and presses the intercom. After just a few signals a voice responds;
MAID
Van Bureen residence, who’s this?
LAUREN
Hi! I’m Lauren Van Bureen, is this
Dalisa?
MAID
No. I’m new maid. Please wait.
The intercom goes quiet for a moment, then Katarina’s voice comes through;
KATARINA
Lauren? Is that you?
LAUREN
Hi Katarina! It’s me!
KATARINA
I didn’t know you were coming!?
LAUREN
I’m here to see Aidan...
KATARINA
Lauren, he’s not home right now,
and he never told me you were
coming up here?
Lauren is quiet, she’s hesitating. Katarina comes back on the intercom;
KATARINA
Wait there. I’ll come out.
Lauren just sighs deeply, and begins to pace around, slowly, in circles, touching her forehead. She looks up and she sees Katarina approaching the gate, walking swiftly down the driveway, wearing her usual home attire of golf clothes, white shorts and a baby blue polo shirt. Her grey-blond hair is tied back and she looks stern. She opens the gate, but not to let Lauren in. She steps outside it.
KATARINA
(Cooly)
Lauren. How are you?
(She doesn’t wait for an answer)
Like I said, we weren’t expecting
you, and Aidan’s not here, why didn’t you call...? What’s going on here?
LAUREN
(Hesitating)
I just really, really need to see
Aidan...I’ve been driving non-stop
from LA...
KATARINA
What have you done now? I’ve read
between the lines y’know. Aidan’s
upset with you for some reason.
Lauren’s quiet, she looks down on the ground.
KATARINA
Look. Lauren. There’s been enough
drama for poor Aidan lately. He’s
landed here now, with us. I think
it’s best if you just leave him
alone now for awhile.
You’re only disrupting him. He’s got enough on his plate...
LAUREN
Please. When is he coming back?
KATARINA
(Evidently considering whether to lie or not)
Maybe within the next hour. He’s
attending some SWEAT pre- introduction...
LAUREN
Thank you. May I perhaps...
KATARINA
(Interrupting, sternly)
Like I said, I’m sorry but I’m unable to receive you, unannounced.
I’m busy today. Please call ahead
next time.
(She steps inside of the gate and closes it)
Take care.
Katarina swiftly walks back up the driveway, without looking back.
Lauren gets into her car and reverses it a bit, so that it is out of range for the security camera at the gate. Then she just sits there, waiting.
Time lapse:
20 minutes. Lauren is sweaty. She’s got the car door open. It’s very hot. She drinks some water.

Time lapse:
Another 30 minutes. Lauren is out of water. She’s leaning back in her seat, eyes closed and panting slightly.
__
Time lapse:
Another 15 minutes. Lauren suddenly dry heaves and leans out of her car, but she doesn’t vomit. She just puts her hand to her mouth, and moans a little.

Time lapse:
Another 10 minutes. Lauren looks pale and sweaty and dazed. She suddenly sits up straight when she finally sees Aidan’s car approaching on the road.
She gets out of her car and walks up to the gate just as he’s stopping there. He just stares at her, and then he turns off the ignition and steps out. He walks up to her but doesn’t hug her.
LAUREN
Hi....
AIDAN
What are you doing here...?
LAUREN
(Emotional)
I’m going crazy Aidan. I just had to see you...
AIDAN
You’re coming from LA?
LAUREN
Straight. Yeah. Been waiting here...an hour and a half....Katarina wouldn’t...
(She trails off and sways a little on her feet)
Aidan takes a step forward and puts his hand on her arm.
AIDAN
You’re OK mom...?
LAUREN
Listen, baby. I miss you so much...and I’m so, so sorry...
AIDAN
(Takes a breath, looks sideways)
You keep sayi’n you want it
”honest” and ”unfiltered”. Well
here’s some unfiltered honesty for
you - you’ve fuckin’n lost the
plot. No, that’s not even true,
you’ve never even had a plot to
begin with, things just ”happen” to
you, don’t they?!
Lauren looks at him with a sad and bewildered face. Then she sways again, but regains her balance.
LAUREN
Aidan...please just give me a chance to...
She trails off again, and her eyes roll back. She sways again, and then she just topples over and hits the ground. Everything goes black.

Aidan is on his knees by his mother, lying on the ground. He’s put her in a recovery position and he’s calling her;
AIDAN
Mom! Mom! Can you hear me?! I’m
calling 911!
Lauren’s eyelids flutter and she moans, then she says, hoarsely;
LAUREN
Nooo! Noooo! No ambulance!
She makes an attempt to support herself on her elbow but collapses back on the ground.
LAUREN
(Eyes closed, mumbling)
You’ve got water...?
Aidan darts off to his car and retrieves a water bottle, he puts his arm around Lauren and raises her up so that she can drink from the bottle. She’s opening her eyes.
AIDAN
I’m taking you to Stanford ED, OK?
LAUREN
OK.
Aidan manages to get her on her feet and holds her around her waist as she’s walking the few steps to his car.

Scene E7:9
INT. EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, STANFORD HEALTH CARE - EARLY
EVENING
Lauren is in a hospital bed, half-raised, as a nurse is hooking her up to an IV. Aidan is sitting on a chair in the corner of the room.
NURSE
(To Lauren)
This will get you re-hydrated.
You’ll start to feel better soon, OK?
The nurse adjusts the drip speed and then turns to Aidan.
NURSE
Dr. Van Bureen has been paged. I
believe he should be on his way now...
AIDAN
Thank you so much.
NURSE
(Leaving the room)
No problem. Push the button if you
need anything.
AIDAN
How are you feeling mom?
LAUREN
A bit better...but weak, splitting
headache...nauseaous...I’m so sorry
Aidan....
AIDAN
Will you quit sayi’n you’re sorry.
Please.
The door opens and Peter Van Bureen enters the room. Aidan shoots up and they hug.
AIDAN
Hey uncle Pete...glad you’re here...
Peter walks up to Lauren’s bedside and takes her hand.
PETER VAN BUREEN
Lauren, hi....how’re you feeling?
LAUREN
A bit better, I think...how are you? Diane? The kids...?
PETER VAN BUREEN
We’re all fine. Listen. Your labs are back....
(Pausing, hesitating)
LAUREN
It’s cancer. I know it. You know my
mom...
PETER VAN BUREEN
(interrupting)
There are no such indications, at
all. As a matter of fact, the labs
are all pretty much within range,
apart from low glucose and a very
low blood pressure. I believe these
are stabilizing already.
However....
(Quickly glancing at Aidan)
You told the triage nurse you’re not pregnant...
LAUREN
I’m not...
PETER VAN BUREEN
Well. The test says you are.
Lauren’s face goes slack. Her hands begin to tremble as she puts them up to her mouth. Then she starts to yell;
LAUREN
No...Noooo....Noooooo!!!
Peter puts his hand on her shoulder, and leans in towards her;
PETER VAN BUREEN
Lauren, try to breathe OK...
Lauren’s whole body begins to tremble.
PETER VAN BUREEN
(To Aidan)
Press the button for the nurse Aidan.
Aidan scrambles for the alert button and the nurse comes back immediately.
PETER VAN BUREEN
(To the nurse)
Get a warm blanket please, she’s
going into shock.
Peter keeps holding Lauren’s hand until the nurse comes back with a heavy warm blanket that she puts on top of Lauren who’s still convulsing lightly and crying.
The nurse begins to soothe her and Peter motions for Aidan to step outside with him.
OUTSIDE IN THE CORRIDOR - SECONDS LATER
PETER VAN BUREEN
So. A bit of a shocker here.
AIDAN
You don’t know the half of it....
PETER VAN BUREEN
No. I don’t. And I don’t have to
know either. Obviously I’m under
confidentiality. I will have to get
back to the Cardiology department,
but, just so you know, your mother
will be fine. They’re going to keep
her here for the night. Just for
observation. If nothing further
arises, she will be discharged in
the morning. Where’s she staying?
With you, and Nan?
AIDAN
No. Katarina wouldn’t let her past
the gate, apparently...
Peter is rolling his eyes and is shaking his head.
PETER VAN BUREEN
She can be such a bitch...Anyhow...Lauren should NOT
be driving back to LA, if that was her plan.
Aidan looks at his uncle.
AIDAN
You mean I should drive her...?
PETER VAN BUREEN
Yes. Or somebody should.
AIDAN
Ok...great....
Peter looks at Aidan with empathy.
PETER VAN BUREEN
Look buddy, I’m really sorry...I realize I’m leaving you here with...a lot to process, but they’re paging me and I have to get back....but you can call me, later, if you’d like?
Peter gives Aidan a quick hug and rushes off down the corridor. Aidan stands still. He seems to consider whether to re-enter the hospital room, or, if he should just leave. He takes a deep breath and opens the door to the hospital room.

I/E. MONTAGE SCENE - HIGH RISE APARTMENT COMPLEX IN DOWNTOWN SF / OUTSIDE STANFORD HEALTH CARE CENTER / RENOVATION PROPERTY CLAREMONT - MIDMORNING
Soundtrack Music:
Mitch is walking around an empty apartment in a high rise building in downtown San Francisco. He’s got his little dog ”Dinah” in his arms and a female estate agent is showing him around. The apartment has stunning panorama views of Bay Bridge, a sleek modern kitchen, a gas fireplace and a terrace. It has two bedrooms.

Lauren is coming out from the main entrance to Stanford ED. She walks straight up to her own car that is parked right outside. She gets in on the passenger side. Aidan is waiting in the driver’s seat. Lauren looks at him and then leans over and attempts to give him a hug. He’s not responding to it, he keeps looking straight ahead without acknowledging her and drives off.

Josh and Javier are working on the demolition of the wall behind the extension. Josh is using a demolition drill, and Javier is collecting debris and pieces of bricks. It’s hot, dusty and dirty. They’re breaking through the wall, brick by brick. Masses of pieces of mortar on the floor.
CUT TO:
INT. LAUREN’S CAR - MIDDAY
Soundtrack: carrying over
Lauren and Aidan are driving south on Hwy 5, with Aidan behind the wheel.
Lauren looks sad and tired, and Aidan just looks drained and disillusioned. They don’t talk, but Lauren keeps glancing at Aidan, sideways, looking unsure about whether she should speak to him, or keep her mouth shut.
Lauren’s phone rings.
(Music stops)
The incoming call appears on the car control screen as ”Josh”.
Lauren quickly mumbles to Aidan;
LAUREN
I have to answer it this time...
(Pushing the ”phone” option on the touch screen)
LAUREN
(in a low, soft voice)
Hi babe...
Aidan looks uncomfortable and sullen.
LAUREN
Aha. I’m on my way back now. Just
passed the Fresno exit...
LAUREN
Things went really well, we talked
and we hung out y’know...
LAUREN
Uh huh. Yeah. I’m real happy...
LAUREN
Well, I can tell you more when I
get home...
LAUREN
Mmm. For sure. Around four...four
thirty, maybe...
LAUREN
How ’bout I’ll pick something
up...you want pizza or sushi or...
LAUREN
Mm-hmm. Yeah. No that’s fine by
me... aha...
LAUREN
All right babe, I’ll see you soon
OK?
LAUREN
I love you too. Bye.
Lauren hangs up. Both she and Aidan just keep staring ahead of them, not saying anything. Finally Lauren breaks the silence;
LAUREN
I’m so sorry Aidan...
AIDAN
Seriously mom! If you say ”I’m
sorry” one more time, I’m gonna
EXPLODE. Say something else, or
just shut up!
Pause.
AIDAN
I mean, it’s just really hard for
me to decide what’s most surreal
about this situation. Is it that my
mom just had a domestically
blissful conversation with
my...someone that used to be a
close friend of mine... or is it
the fact that you’re expecting HIS
CHILD?! Or, is it the lies?!! The
LIES, the LIES, the non-stop
LYING?!!! I don’t KNOW?!
LAUREN
I thought the lying would end...but
then...
Lauren puts her hand over her mouth and stares out of the side window, swallowing hard. She then turns to Aidan and says;
LAUREN
Josh can NEVER, EVER know about
this, OK Aidan?
Aidan does not respond.
LAUREN
PLEASE.
Still no response.
LAUREN
(Pleading)
Aidan...?
AIDAN
All right! I’m not planning on talking to him anyway.
Pause.
AIDAN
So...what are you gonna do...?
LAUREN
(Looking down, strained voice)
I already managed to get an
appointment at a clinic tomorrow..that will...resolve the situation...
Aidan shakes his head a little.
LAUREN
Either that, or I’ll miscarry. I’m sure of it.
AIDAN
And then what...? What’s gonna
happen...
LAUREN
With me and Josh you mean?
Aidan nods slowly, patiently.
LAUREN
He will tire of me. I think he will be ready to move on...quite soon...
AIDAN
So you’re waiting for him to break
up with you? Why don’t you just end
the relationship, now? Today?
Lauren does not respond. She just puts her fingertips under her eyes, after a moment she says;
LAUREN
I just want to know what it feels
like to be loved, really loved...for once in my lifetime...
AIDAN
(Interrupting)
Seriously!? You too...
LAUREN
What do you mean...?
AIDAN
Like you and dad both...craving the
attention from someone...other than
each other...
LAUREN
No! It’s not like that...not for me anyway...I don’t think so...
(Growing insecure)
AIDAN
I’m sorry mom....I just..(Sighs)
don’t want you to get hurt...used...
LAUREN
You really believe Josh is...”using” me?
Aidan just shrugs.
LAUREN
I thought you KNEW him?
AIDAN
(Stern voice)
So did I.
LAUREN
I’ve already been accused of the
opposite...
AIDAN
By whom?
LAUREN
Never mind. I actually think...
Lauren trails off as she’s sidetracked by a sound and a message appearing on the screen on Aidan’s phone lying by the transmission. She notices the name ”Antonia” before the screen goes black.
Aidan notices too, but does not say anything.
LAUREN
Who’s Antonia...?
A flicker of a smile plays across Aidan’s lips, but he stays silent.
Lauren looks straight ahead, and she smiles to herself.
LAUREN
I’m really curious...
AIDAN
I bet you are.
LAUREN
I swore I saw a red heart...
AIDAN
Give me a break...
There’s another buzz from his phone and message number two comes through. Lauren rapidly leans forward to look at the screen just as Aidan snatches it away from her, holding it so that he can glance at the screen, but she can’t see it. There’s another smile that plays across his lips as he puts the phone in the door pocket on his side.
Lauren keeps looking at him, smiling widely.
LAUREN
Can we call her? Please?
AIDAN
(Trying to suppress his smile)
Mom, stop it now...
Lauren goes quiet for awhile and looks straight ahead.
LAUREN
Antonia. Antoooonia. Aidan. And
Antonia. Aidan and Antonia! That
sounds so good!!!
Now Aidan can’t suppress his smile anymore, he’s grinning, and he’s blushing.
LAUREN
Where is she? She’s at Stanford?
Aidan just shakes his head.
LAUREN
LA?
Aidan shakes his head.

(Trying to guess)

AIDAN
You’ll never be able to guess....
Lauren looks at Aidan, waiting for him to tell her. But he says nothing. He’s just looking at the road ahead.
AIDAN
So you saw ”Gryme”...?
Lauren looks confused for a moment. Then she remembers.
LAUREN
I did....how’d you know that? Did you talk to Josh?
AIDAN
I talked to Nate.
LAUREN
Ah...
AIDAN
They’re really good don’t you think?
LAUREN
They are! But you’re changing the
subject. Is this a Swedish girl?
Aidan seems to be contemplating whether to say anything or not, but deep down, he wants to talk.
AIDAN
Half Swedish, half Chilean,
currently residing in Paraguay. You
wouldn’t have been able to guess
that would you?
LAUREN
No. That would have taken some time, and we only have like four hours left...so! Tell me everything!
Aidan just keeps smiling.
LAUREN
Aidan, please tell mommy...
AIDAN
Well....she’s my age. Not 20 years
older.
LAUREN
(Smiling)
Now that’s a relief!!!
AIDAN
I haven’t knocked her up...
Lauren’s smile vanishes, instantly.
AIDAN
(Glancing quickly at Lauren)
Sorry. Out of line.
LAUREN
Do go on.
Pause.
AIDAN
What can I say.....She’s a good one. She’s one of the good ones.
LAUREN
So are you Aidan. You’re one of the good ones.
AIDAN
Your biased assessment is void, I’m afraid.
LAUREN
(Looking sad, empathic)
I’m sorry she’s so far away....
AIDAN
So am I.
Lauren reaches for Aidan’s hand and he takes it. She’s holding his hand, and she feels like the part of her heart that had been short circuited, is functioning normally again. She leans back against the headrest and smiles, blissfully.

CONT'D -
Josh and Aidan walk through the extension again and Diego looks up at Aidan;
DIEGO
Good seeing you Aidan!
(To Josh)
I called Lauren but she doesn’t pick up, so I guess she’s in the dentist chair...
JOSH
Probably.
Josh and Aidan continue outside and walk through the side gate.
JOSH
Too bad she’s not home, she would
have loved to see you, even for five minutes...
They stop, and they both hesitate, then they give each other a quick hug.
JOSH
Thanks for coming man...
(Looking a bit emotional)
Aidan just nods and turns to walk out but then he suddenly stops and mutters under his breath;
AIDAN
Oh fuck it.
Aidan turns around to look at Josh who’s still watching him, and he walks back towards him.
AIDAN
You should know the truth Josh.
JOSH
What truth...?
AIDAN
I drove Lauren down here yesterday
cause she wasn’t feeling well...
JOSH
(Looking alarmed)
What?! What’s wrong with her?
Aidan hesitates.
JOSH
Aidan! What’s wrong with her?!!
AIDAN
She’s not at the dentist....
Josh looks like he’s about to start shaking him.
AIDAN
She’s at this clinic...to have an
abortion....
Josh stares at him. First he seems to be unable to register what Aidan just told him, then it looks like he’s been shot.
He cries out;
JOSH
Noooo NOOOOOO NOOOOO!!!!
Josh bends forward and holds his knees as if he’s about to fall over, then he stands up and puts his hands on his head, looking completely shattered and shocked. There’s devastation and panic in his eyes and he’s beginning to cry. He’s turning around, and around, with his hands still on his head.
JOSH
Where is she?!!! Where is...
AIDAN
I don’t know Josh! I’m sorry, I have no idea....
Josh just squats down on the ground, with his hands still on his head, and his crying intensifies. He pulls out his
phone and calls Lauren but the call goes to voice mail. He does not leave a message, he just remains squatting and he hides his face in the crook of his arm, sobbing.
Aidan who’s been frozen, bends forward and puts a hand on his
shoulder.
AIDAN
I’m so sorry bro. I’m so sorry...you want me to take you home?
Josh just nods and stands up, almost wobbling, looking pale and pained, tears streaming down his face. He walks with Aidan towards the car on the street, and Aidan keeps a hand
on his shoulder.

"Inside of You"
Summary
Aidan needs to drive Lauren back to LA. She makes him promise not to say anything to Josh about her pregnancy. Lauren learns of Aidan’s long-distance relationship with Antonia.
Josh and Lauren have a deep conversation and she sees his new tattoo. Josh has found out that Lauren effectively pays his salary. Josh is very honest, but Lauren is not.
Lauren visits a clinic and has her pregnancy confirmed. She asks for a medical abortion.
Aidan pays Josh a surprise visit at the ”flip” building site. They have a heart-to-heart conversation and as Aidan is leaving, he decides to tell Josh about Lauren’s pregnancy, and, about the abortion she’s decided to have. Josh is completely devastated.
Josh and Lauren meet at home and they are both very sad. When Josh realizes that she hasn’t yet terminated the pregnancy, he convinces her to keep it.
Aidan is struggling at his grandparents place, they seem to want to dictate his life. His father Mitch moves into the guesthouse with him. They bond and make plans to live together in the city.
Aidan has his first Anatomy Lab in Med School. He’s talking to Antonia via skype and they support each other in their struggles with transformation and direction.
Josh and Lauren throw a small housewarming party and receive a special blessing from Lauren’s friend Skylar. Lauren announces that she and Josh have started a new business together, a company called ”Regenerade”.
Liz lets Lauren know that she’s figured out that Lauren is pregnant, and that she has doubts about the situation.

Soundtrack Music:
Mitch is walking around an empty apartment in a high rise
building in downtown San Francisco. He’s got his little dog
”Dinah” in his arms and a female estate agent is showing him
around. The apartment has stunning panorama views of Bay
Bridge, a sleek modern kitchen, a gas fireplace and a
terrace. It has two bedrooms.
Lauren is coming out from the main entrance to Stanford ED.
She walks straight up to her own car that is parked right
outside. She gets in on the passenger side. Aidan is waiting
in the driver’s seat. Lauren looks at him and then leans over
and attempts to give him a hug. He’s not responding to it, he
keeps looking straight ahead without acknowledging her and
drives off.
Josh and Javier are working on the demolition of the wall
behind the extension. Josh is working with a demolition
drill, and Javier is collecting debris and pieces of bricks.
It’s hot, dusty and dirty. They’re breaking through the wall,
brick by brick.
CUT TO:
INT. LAUREN’S CAR MIDDAY
Soundtrack: carrying over.
Lauren and Aidan are driving south on Hwy 5, with Aidan
behind the wheel.
Lauren looks sad and tired, and Aidan just looks drained and
desillusioned. They don’t talk, but Lauren keeps looking at
Aidan, sideways, looking unsure of whether she should speak
to him, or keep her mouth shut.
Lauren’s phone rings.
(Music stops)
The incoming call appears on the car control screen as
”Josh”.
Lauren quickly mumbles to Aidan;
LAUREN
I have to answer it this time...
(Pushing the ”phone”
option on the touch
screen)
LAUREN (CONT'D)
(in a lower voice)
Hi babe...
Aidan looks uncomfortable.
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Aha. I’m on my way back now. Just
passed the Fresno exit...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Things went really well, we talked
and we hung out y’know...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Uh huh. Yeah. I’m real happy...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Well, I can tell you more when I
get home...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Mmm. For sure. Around four...four
thirty, maybee...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
How ’bout I’ll pick something
up...you want pizza or sushi or...
LAUREN (CONT'D)
Mmm hmm. Yeah. No that’s fine by

Lauren hangs up. Both she and Aidan just keep staring ahead
of them, not saying anything. Finally Lauren breaks the
silence;
LAUREN (CONT'D)
I’m so sorry Aidan...
AIDAN
Seriously mom! If you say ”I’m sorry" one more time, I'm gonna EXPLODE. Say something else, or just shut up!
Pause.
AIDAN
I mean it’s just really hard for me
to decide what’s most surreal about
this situation: is it that my mom
just had a domestically blissful
conversation with my...someone that
used to be a close friend of
mine... or is it the fact that
you’re expecting HIS CHILD?! Or, is
it the lies?!! The LIES, the LIES,
the non-stop LYING?!!! I don’t
KNOW!?
LAUREN
I thought the lying would end...but
then...
Lauren puts her hand over her mouth and stares out of the
side window, turning away from Aidan, swallowing hard. She
then turns back to Aidan and says;
LAUREN
Josh can NEVER, EVER know about
this, ok Aidan?
Aidan does not respond.
LAUREN
PLEASE!
Still no response.
LAUREN
(Pleading)
Aidan...?
AIDAN
All right! I’m not planning on
talking to him anyway.
Pause.
AIDAN
So...what are you gonna do...?
LAUREN
(Looking down, strained
voice)
I already managed to get an
appointment at a clinic
tomorrow..that will...resolve the
situation...
Aidan shakes his head a little.
LAUREN
Either that, or I’ll miscarry. I’m
sure of it.
AIDAN
And then what...? What’s gonna
happen...
LAUREN
With me and Josh you mean?
Aidan nods slowly, patiently.
LAUREN
He will tire of me. I think he will
be ready to move on...quite soon..
AIDAN
So you’re waiting for him to break
up with you? Why don’t you just end
the relationship, now? Today?
Lauren does not respond. She just puts her fingertips under
her eyes, after a moment she says;
LAUREN
I just want to know what it feels
like to be loved, really
loved...for once in my lifetime...
AIDAN
(Interrupting)
Seriously!? You too...
LAUREN
What do you mean...?
AIDAN
Like you and dad both...craving the
attention from someone...other than
each other...
LAUREN
No! It’s not like that...not for me
anyway...I don’t think
so...(Growing more insecure)
AIDAN
I’m sorry mom....I just..(Sighs)
don’t want you to get
hurt...used...
LAUREN
You really believe Josh
is...”using” me?
Aidan just shrugs.
LAUREN
I thought you KNEW him?
AIDAN
(Stern voice)
So did I.
LAUREN
I’ve already been accused of the
opposite...
AIDAN

LAUREN
Never mind. I actually think...
Lauren trails off as she’s sidetracked by a sound and a
message appearing on the screen of Aidan’s phone lying by the
transmission. She notices the name ”Antonia” before the
screen goes black.
Aidan notices too, but does not say anything.
LAUREN
Who’s Antonia...?
A flicker of a smile plays across Aidan’s lips, but he stays
silent.
Lauren looks ahead, she smiles to herself.
LAUREN
I’m really curious...
AIDAN
I bet you are.
LAUREN
I swore I saw a red heart...
AIDAN
Give it a rest...
There’s another buzz from his phone and message number two
comes through. Lauren rapidly leans forward to look at the
screen just as Aidan snatches it away from her, holding it so
that he can glance at the screen, but she can’t see it.
There’s another smile that plays across his lips as he puts
the phone in the door pocket on his side.
Lauren keeps looking at him, smiling widely.
LAUREN
Can we call her? Please?
AIDAN
(Trying to suppress his
smile)
Mom, stop it now...
Lauren goes quiet for awhile and looks straight ahead.
LAUREN
Antonia. Antoooonia. Aidan. And
Antonia. Aidan and Antonia! That
sounds so good!!!
Now Aidan can’t suppress his smile anymore, he’s grinning,
and he’s blushing.
LAUREN
Where is she? She’s at Stanford?
Aidan just shakes his head.
LAUREN
LA?

unlacing his boots. He stands up and scoops her up in an
embrace and they kiss, eagerly.
JOSH
I missed you so much baby...
LAUREN
Missed you too!
JOSH
We had a really late delivery
that’s why I’m...
LAUREN
The kitchen stuff?
JOSH
Yeah, all crammed into the front
room...
(Looking at the coffee
table)
Oh you got a calzone?
LAUREN
Yeah...sorry I already ate some...
Josh slumps down on the couch and greedily begins to eat his
pizza.
LAUREN

Lauren walks over to the fridge to get him a beer, and an
apple juice for herself. Then she curls up on the couch,
close to him, and she watches him eat with a tired smile.

Josh puts the beer bottle down again and turns so that she
can see his right arm while he peels of the protective wrap.
Lauren’s jaw drops as she realizes her name is tattooed on
his arm. She shakes her head in disbelief and hides her face
in her hands.
LAUREN
Oh my God! Josh! What have you
DONE?!
Josh laughs and hooks his arm around her neck, pulls her
close and kisses her hair.
JOSH
I’m trying to make it harder for
you to break up with me!
Lauren looks up at him, wide-eyed and stunned, and then she
kisses him deeply. They remain close, with their foreheads
touching, then Lauren turns to look at the tattoo again,
stroking it with her fingers. Josh studies her, with soft
eyes.
LAUREN
(mumbling)
This is crazy...this is so, so
crazy....
JOSH
Crazy good.
LAUREN

LAUREN

LAUREN

JOSH
You left the latest invoice from
Montoya Construction on the
counter....”worker JK, 205
hours”....
Now Lauren puts her face in her hands again.
There’s a brief silence and then Josh speaks;
JOSH
You know what Lauren? I had a bit
of a dialogue with myself, and I
realize it doesn’t really matter at
the end of the day, at least not in
our current situation...but...
LAUREN
You’d rather not be employed by
your girlfriend...?
JOSH
My male ego and my feminist ideals
are at a bit of a deadlock here.
(Crooked smile)
But...I’ll get over it. I wanna
give my all for you, like you for
me...right?
Lauren’s eyes are misty and she nods. Josh caresses her face.
JOSH
The only thing that REALLY matters
is that we’re honest with each
other, don’t you think?
Lauren nods again. A single tear escapes her eye.
JOSH
No lies...?
